Open Call for TV factual documentary & drama ideas
Factual Fiction is a TV production company founded by Emily Dalton (former MD of Darlow Smithson and originator of the hits The King in the Car Park, 24 Hours in the Past, and The Mill), Tom Dalton (writer/producer of the successful Channel 5/Netflix film Agatha and the Truth of Murder and its two sequels), Patrick Irwin (a highly experienced executive producer whose credits include The Fall and Miss Scarlet and the Duke) and Chamoun Issa (an award-winning writer and commercials director).
We launched the company during the first lockdown and have produced programmes for ITV and Channel 5 and are developing and producing factual and scripted for BBC, C4, Amazon, Warner Bros, ZDFE and Freemantle.
We love watching great TV, and that is what we aspire to make. We plan to achieve this by both paying attention to the craft, but also by telling stories we feel passionate about, with, and from, talent that should be on tv.
Factual Fiction is regional (North Yorkshire) and diverse (BAME, disability, SED, and LGBTQ), and we aim to reflect that in the programmes we make, and the talent we work with.
We are looking for:
Factual
1. Unique access to vibrant and diverse young characters in unusual areas/precincts outside London.
2. Unique access to an important incident or moment or group with household recognition. Both contemporary or from recent (post 1970s) British history.
3. Diverse talent in unusual areas such as religion, history, and science.
Drama
1. Thrillers with twists & turns
2. Feature-length detective shows
3. Bold, surprising and entertaining ideas
