Animatic 2025/26 – Develop, Pitch & Launch Your Animated Project

Are you a Scotland-based creative, team or studio working on an animated short, feature or series?

Animatic, now in its third year, is an intensive talent lab designed to take your animated project to the next level — whether you're building a short, developing a feature, or shaping a pitch-perfect series.

Across a series of workshops, 1:1 consultations, and pitch training, Animatic supports you to refine your story, build a professional, pitch-ready deck, and present your project to an expert panel at Glasgow Film Festival 2026.

Three Tracks – Tailored Support

Each track comes with bespoke workshops, story development support, and pitch training.

At the end of the programme, selected projects will pitch live at GFF 2026. Winners will receive the below development funding:

1. Shorts Lab

   • Best Short Pitch Award – £1,500
     

2. Series Lab

   • Best Series Pitch – £3,000
     

3. Features Lab

   • Best Feature Pitch – £6,000

Key Programme Dates (Attendance is mandatory if selected)

• Two-day introductory workshop: Mid-November 2025

• 9x story workshops & consultations (Nov 2025 – Mar 2026, mostly online)

• Pitching Weekend: 27 Feb – 1 Mar 2026

• Live Pitch: Monday 2 March 2026
  
  

Who Can Apply?

You must:

• Be based in Scotland

• Be aged 18 or older

• Not be in full- or part-time education

• Submit an original animated short, feature or series idea

• Be confident working on story development with consultants

• Commit to attending the full programme

You can apply as:

• An individual

• A creative team (with a Scottish-based lead applicant)

• A studio (registered in Scotland)
  
  

Minimum Experience Requirements

See the Animatic website for full details by strand, but in short:

For Shorts:

• Created at least one short film, music video or advert (as writer, director or producer)
  

For Features:

• Created at least two short films, music videos or adverts (same roles)
  

For Series:

• Same as Features, or

• 1+ year in a relevant TV role, or

• Completed relevant TV training and made 1–2 short pieces
