Storytelling in a digital age. How technology is driving an equitable future in film making.

Everyone responds to a good story.

Regardless of religion, colour, sex or age, we’re all united when it comes to the pleasure we take in a cracking good story.

It’s the ultimate gift.

And good story tellers and creators inhabit every corner of the world however their ability to share stories with their global community has often been restricted by geography, education or access to decision makers with media power.

Technology now offers the 2nd oldest profession in the world - the storyteller - the opportunity to share and track their ideas and stories across global borders.

Why shouldn’t an idea from a New Zealand content creator connect with an Indian commissioner?  Their innovative idea, and its universal themes, could potentially engage audiences the Indian broadcaster is hoping to attract.  Currently the chances of them finding each other are pretty slim, however technology is changing that.

Imagine a world where ideas can be shared (and protected) globally, where decision makers in Brazil can reach out to content creators in Ireland because they have a shared love of Magic Realism.

That world is upon us.

Welcome to SMASH.
