Global Streaming Platform Call for Comedy Projects

What’s on offer

  • Up to five shortlisted projects will be invited to pitch directly to executives from a major global streaming platform, focused on discovering the next standout voices in comedy.

Selected projects will:

  • Receive pitch training from SMASH 

  • Participate in a face-to-face pitching session with platform executives. (Winners may chose to Pitch virtually)

  • Receive direct feedback and creative insights from experienced industry professionals.

  • Be considered for future development or collaboration with the platform’s network of third-party producers.

  • Gain valuable exposure within an international industry context.

While this callout does not guarantee commissioning, it offers a unique opportunity to get your comedy noticed by global decision-makers.

 

What they are looking for

  • Scripted comedy projects: half-hour or one-hour, designed to be returning series. (Not looking for limited ideas.)

  • UK-based comedy writers developing distinctive funny series with ambitious global appeal.

  • Writing is the thing.  We are drawn to extraordinary, memorable characters who make us laugh in relatable worlds (e.g. family, workplace, friendship, all of the above)

  • Especially looking for ensembles, and writers that have a capacity to hit a distinctive commercial tone, tackle universal themes with an original point of view. 

Who can apply

  • UK based writers with experience or representation are preferred, but exceptional new voices are also encouraged to apply—particularly when partnered with an experienced producer.

What you need to include in your SMASH Pitch

Your SMASH Snapshot must include at minimum:

  • Logline

  • Synopsis of Pilot as well as broad arc for the first season.

  • Creative vision/ Tone/ Why now? (relevance or timeliness of the story)/Why you?

  • Target audience and market positioning

  • Comparables / tonal references

  • Pilot script

Any projects submitted without this information will not be accepted.

 

How to Apply

  1. Sign up to SMASH at app.mysmash.media.

  2. Upgrade to a SMASHPro account.

  3. Create your pitch.

  4. Build your Snapshot with the required elements above.

  5. Hit ‘Share Project’ and select ‘Global Streaming Platform Call for Comedy Projects’ from the Call Out page.

  6. Submit before January 31st 2026
